This dynamic, innovative, and interactive course will focus on integrating mindfulness and related healing practices in counseling and other helping professions. Participants will increase their skill repertoire by learning effective evidence-based strategies to deal with stress, anxiety, pain, depression and more.
Recent research points to exciting, cutting edge, and evidence based developments regarding the convergence of brain science and the age old practice of mindfulness. Studies have shown that regular mindfulness practice can alter brain functions, thus increasing a person’s ability to improve their emotions, behaviors, and overall health and well-being. This class will draw from the recent understanding and advancements in mindfulness as well as incorporate other mind-body healing modalities.
This class is a mid level class and is well suited for students in the healing professions(nurses, counselors/therapists, teachers, body workers) seeking more ways to be effective in helping people restore their health and well-being.
